We discuss it together to ensure that the rhythm of our days and the environment of the Mas correspond to your expectations, and that we have the availability to pamper a new arrival.

Because yes, we make it a point of honor to preserve the well-being of our residents. For the record, just last week, we refused a request for care for a dog in heat. Not that this bothers us personally, but our structure being located in the middle of the Poussan natural area, this could have disturbed the dogs nearby and created tension. At Cani'Oc, we do not takeNO risk, both for your peace of mind and for the safety of your companion. Likewise, when our reservations are full, we prefer to refuse rather than overload the Mas and degrade the quality of our welcome.

Once the first contact has been validated, we invite you to go directly to the Mas. This is the ideal opportunity to discover the real reception conditions, have human exchanges, but also make introductions with our big puppy, Arlo (whom you have surely seen passing by if you follow us on the networks!). At 5 months, Arlo already weighs 40 kg. Even if he is absolutely friendly, his size can impress or displease certain dogs whose socialization has not been finalized. The case of Prada: Royal communication and management of the heatwave

Prada was entrusted to us by its master, a tourist on vacation in the South of France. They wanted to offer her days of cool break to prevent her from suffering from the local heat and to be able to enjoy certain activities of their own. Going on vacation with your dog is fantastic, but knowing that you can leave him in complete peace and serenity is even better. Our adage?“Your dog will have a better vacation than you!” »

Prada is a beautiful 5 year old Husky. She is completely okay with the presence of her peersBUTshe does not at all like to be approached head-on for play. Equipped with aexcellent canine communication, this "Queen" was immediately able to make Arlo understand that he could stay nearby, but that he should not expect cuddles or wild games of play.

Despite his frustration as a puppy, Arlo was able to adapt perfectly and respect his signals. A superb lesson in communication under our watchful eye!

Furthermore, a Husky is not naturally programmed for heatwaves over 35°C in our beautiful Occitanie region. To keep her cool and busy, we have put in place a suitable program:

Behavioral work: Tolerance and revelations

We took advantage of his 5 days at the Mas to gently work on his tolerance to peers. Initially, Prada expressed discomfort with the proximity of other dogs by rolling up his lips or snapping his fangs. Our goal as behaviorists is never to change the character of a dog (we must respect its personality!), but to help it evolve to better cope with these situations. Little by little, Prada understood that if another dog approached, it was not necessarily to annoy her, but sometimes just because the spot she had chosen was nice. She ended up completely accepting this peaceful shared accommodation.

In terms of motivation, Prada ignored traditional toys (no chasing the ball, no pulling sessions) and was very selective about treats. Until...revelation! Yak cheese came on the scene. A real victory for keeping him mentally occupied during the hot hours.

And to expend the legendary energy of this Husky?THE RACE!Vrooom! Running sessions very early in the morning, taking advantage of the protective shade of the estate’s Green Oaks.

Beyond Words: Intention and Connection

Prada’s little bonus feature? She doesn't speak a word of French! Accustomed to commands in Spanish and German, I had to be cunning (German being a mystery to me!).
Because yes, it is a point that we often underestimate, the fact that a dog learns words in a certain language.

So we worked on what works best in the canine world:intention and tone. As you know, an order given in a calm, playful or direct tone will not have the same impact. Think of “Heel”: said happily, the dog comes hopping back; shouted aggressively, he returned with a round back and worried eyes. By simply learning three key words (“Kom”,“Sitzend”,“Stop”, ok I didn't worry about 2 of them...) and by associating the right bodily and vocal intention, the connection was made naturally.

Because a separation can be stressful for owners, transparency is at the heart of Cani'Oc. Throughout the stay, his owner received our news several times a day:photos, videos, funny anecdotes...Active communication so that they can share their vacation remotely and keep a magnificent digital trace of their stay.
